Virgil Stanley White, age 64, of Baldwin, Wisconsin, died on June 9th, 2010 at the VA Medical Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Virgil was born in the Gillman Township in Pierce County, Wisconsin to LeRoy & Ruby (Rice) White on June 19th, 1945. When he was old enough, Virgil served in the Marine Corps with the 3rd Battalion of the 26th Marine Regiment, 5th Marine Division. He proudly served from 1965 to 1969 which included 4 tours to Vietnam. He was dedicated to the corps and lived by the credo, “You’ve never lived ‘til you’ve almost died. For those who fight for it, life has a flavor the protected will never know.” He is survived by his son, grandson – Christopher Michael White Jr., brothers and sisters and nephews and nieces.
Services will be held on Thursday, July 1st at the Faith and Family Church in Baldwin, Wisconsin at 10am. This will be followed by a burial with full military honors taking place at the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner, Wisconsin at 3PM. Memorials are preferred. Services are in the care of the O’Connell Family Funeral Home & Countryside Crematory – Baldwin.
