Virginia VanDusen

Virginia VanDusen, 93, of Hammond, Wisconsin, formerly of Illinois & California, passed away peacefully with her daughter by her side on Tuesday, February 11, 2020 at Hammond Health Services.

Virginia was born April 27, 1926 in Phelps, WI to parents William & Minnie Langner. After graduating from school, she went into the restaurant & bar management business. She worked in Wisconsin, Illinois, & California over the years. Virginia owned & operated her own café, alongside her first husband, Ray. When Virginia wasn’t busy with work, she could be found cooking at home for her family, or on the sewing machine stitching up something for herself or her kids. Virginia was known by family & friends as quite the social butterfly. She loved visiting with anyone who came her way, especially if it was over a nice meal. Virginia also had a love for Bingo and playing cards. She enjoyed playing either game on a regular basis. She loved to dance the Polka and host card parties. Virginia was an excellent hunter & fisherman. She also like to ride her Harley & won awards. She looked forward to a nice weekend camping and showing off her skills. Virginia will always be remembered for her adventurous spirit, caring nature, & friendly personality by all who had the blessing of knowing her.

Virginia will remain in the hearts of her three children; Kandy James of East Moline, Illinois, Penny Smith of Hammond, Wisconsin & Rodney (Cynthia) Foster of Stockton, California; her 18 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family & friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, William & Minnie, her son, Butch; grandchildren, Logan David & Micki; as well as her siblings.

A Celebration of Virginia’s Life will be held at 11:00 AM, Sunday, February 16th at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home of Baldwin. A Gathering of Family & Friends will precede the celebration from 10:00-11:00 AM at the funeral home. Services are entrusted to O’Connell Family Funeral Home, 1010 Newton St. Baldwin, WI 54002, 715-684-3434.
