Wallace ‘Wally’ Gregerson

Wallace Gordon “Wally” Gregerson, age 84 of North Hudson, died peacefully on Saturday, February 22, 2014 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Wally was born on March 4, 1929 in Martell, Wisconsin; the son of Elmer and Evelyn (Olson) Gregerson. He was raised in Martell prior to his family moving to Hudson where he graduated from High School. In 1949, he enlisted in the Armed Forces, where he proudly served in the United Sates Air Force during the Korean War. On August 7, 1954, he was united in marriage to Bernadine Trudell in Iowa. This union would be further blessed with five children; Debra, Greg, Pam, Mary, and Carl.  Many will have fond memories of Wally when he owned and operated Friendly Valley Appliance in Hudson. Many friendships were created over several years of service calls.

Wally was very civic minded. He was a member of the Hudson VFW and American Legion Posts; as well as the Knights of Columbus for St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.  He served many years on the North Hudson Village Board as trustee and president. The neighborhood birds were always taken good care of by Wally, as he loved to watch them feed. But most of all, Wally’s greatest love outside of family was the North Hudson Pepper Festival. He volunteered many years, served on its board of directors, and was well equipped to help most any situation as their handyman. Quite often you would see Wally running from one issue to another in his blue work shirt and utility belt ready to keep Pepper Fest hoppin’.

Wally will live on in the hearts of his wife Bernie; his children, Debra (Dan) Copeland, Greg (Terri) Gregerson, Pam Campion, Mary Gregerson, and Carl Gregerson; grandchildren, Mandy Huston (Jerry Mullenberg), Cassie Copeland (Phillip Rumble), Ryan Copeland, Rick Gregerson (Josie Lane), Jackie (Lars) Hanson, Jeff Gregerson (Emma Caudy), Jill Gregerson, Marc (Carole) Velasquez, John Jr. (Teresia) Lischewski, Samantha (Eric) Arguelles, Britini Gregerson, and Kila (Luke) Crossly; eight great-grandchildren; brothers, Roger (Dorothy) Gregerson, Ronald (Valerie) Gregerson, sister-in-law, Susan Trudell; as well as many friends, and his extended Pepper Fest family. He is preceded in death by his parents; sister Virginia Bell; and brother-in-law Don Trudell.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, March 1, 2014 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Hudson. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the Hudson VFW and American Legion Posts. Visitation will be on Friday from 5:00-7:00pm at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home in Hudson, and one hour prior to the mass at church on Saturday morning. Memorials are preferred. Services are in the care of the O’Connell Family Funeral Home of Hudson, WI. 715-386-3725
