Walter “Swede” Scott Lamson, age 102, of Hammond, Wisconsin, passed away on November 6, 2023, at Hammond Health Services. He was born on September 14, 1921, to parents Charles and Eva (Ranney) Lamson in Roberts, Wisconsin. After high school graduation, Swede served his country with the United States Army Air Forces. He  married the love of his life, Donna (O’Connor) on August 8, 1953. The couple was blessed with two children, Sharyl (KK) and Scott. Swede worked for many years as a gas delivery man at Cenex Gas and retired when he was 63.

Swede was a quiet man who had the most kind and gentle spirit. He was a loving husband, father and proud grandfather. In his youth and in school, Swede enjoyed playing baseball, softball, and football. In retirement, he thoroughly enjoyed golfing. Swede also enjoyed time spent with family “up north” on Dunham Lake. He enjoyed the outdoors and would often be found hunting or fishing. He also enjoyed playing cards. His favorites were blackjack and euchre. Swede and Donna, along with other family members, would escape the midwest winters and enjoyed the warmth in Black Canyon City, Arizona for many years.

Walter is survived by his son Scott (Jennifer) Lamson; grandchildren Michael (Hillary) Orgeman, Meghan (MT) Orgeman; sister-in-laws Marianne (friend Jerry) Franklin and Rosanna O’Connor; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife Donna Lamson; daughter Sharyl (KK) Kittilson; brothers George (Lois) Lamson, Chuck (Thelma) Lamson, Dale (Helen) Lamson, Dick (Elaine) Lamson; sister Ethel (Charlie) Brown; and brother-in-laws Lloyd (Rosanna) O’Connor, Jerry (Bev) O’Connor and Dick (Barb) O’Connor.

Per Swede’s wishes, a private family gathering will be held. Memorials/cards for Swede’s family can be mailed to O’Connell Family Funeral Home, 1010 Newton St., Baldwin, WI 54002, to be forwarded.
