Ward David TeWinkel, age 70, of River Falls, WI died on Sunday, July 19th at the Kinnic Home in River Falls.
Ward was born on December 22, 1944 in St. Paul, MN to Morris and Margaret (Ward) TeWinkel.
Ward grew up mostly in River Falls. He attended school in Washington state, and then the local schools, graduating from River Falls High School in 1963. Ward received his Bachelor’s Degree from U.W.–River Falls in 1968.
In 1969, Ward and his wife Kathy Peterson were married and added two sons, Bret and Kurt, to the family.
For many years he worked as an electrician for his family’s electrical business -TeWinkel Electric. When his dad retired, Ward started his own business, Ward TeWinkel Electric in 1985 and ran his business until 2013.
Ward was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. He was known for his sense of humor. He had many interests, topped by “Pipe Lake”, boats, trains, motorcycles, and cars. Currently, he had three Harley Davidson Screamin’ Eagles and a Corvette. Ward liked to travel, going to Europe, the Grand Canyon, and several trips on motorcycle to the Smokie Mountains, Vermont, and Napa Valley. His latest trip was to Sanibel Island, FL for two weeks last February. He always had a great time and enjoyed every moment of life.
Ward is survived by his wife, Kathy; sons, Bret (Mercedes) of Virginia Beach, VA, and Kurt (Heidi) of Hudson, WI; grandchildren Tatiana (Jesse), Jessica (J.R.) Wiggs, Michael, Carley, and Bailey; great-grandsons Christian Prinz, and Bradley Wiggs; sisters, Jan Gaalaas of Laudon,TN, Jill Fahs of Ixonia, WI, and Jennifer Smith of Hudson, WI; father-in-law, Duane Peterson of River Falls,WI; best buddies, Tom and Jude Jones of Brooklyn Park, MN; many nieces, nephews, and other family.
Ward is preceded in death by his parents, Morris and Margaret; brother-in-laws, Scott Gaalaas and Kevin Peterson; and mother-in-law, Sharon Peterson.
Memorial services will be 11:00am Thursday, July 23, 2015 at Bethel Lutheran Church – Highland Campus, Hudson, WI. Visitation will be 5:00-8:00pm, Wednesday, July 22 at Cashman-Hill Funeral Home, River Falls, WI and 1 hour prior to the service at church Thursday..
