Warren Wilson

Warren Wendell Wilson, age 75 of Prescott WI, died on Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at his residence.  Warren was born on December 27, 1941 in Frederic WI to parents Walter and Evelyn (nee Horne) Wilson. Warren attended school in Frederic, and graduated with the Class of 1960. After high school, Warren furthered his education by earning a Biology degree at University of Wisconsin – River Falls, and then a degree in Landscape Architecture from the University of Wisconsin – Madison. Warren went on to earn his Masters degree in Landscape Architecture from the University of Pennsylvania.

Warren worked for many years with Dakota County as a County Planner, specializing in matters of Recycling and Land Use. Outside of work, Warren enjoyed riding and training horses, raising llamas, growing wildflowers, and vegetable gardening. His love of the outdoors and nature also took him on many camping and canoeing trips. While a student at UW River Falls, Warren competed with the Swim Team, and sang with the Concert Choir.  His love of music led him to join the St. Croix Valley Barbershoppers vocal group in 1977, where he still sang with them to this day.  Above all, Warren’s kind and friendly nature made him one who loved to visit with others. He could strike up a conversation with anyone. Those times will be missed by all who had the chance to sit a spell, and visit with Warren.

Warren is survived by his wife of 51 years, Sharon; his brothers, Lloyd (Diane Keeler) Wilson, and Steven (Debbie Rappaport) Wilson; nephew, Seth Wilson and his sons Hamilton and Elliott; niece, Stephanie (Ken) Hunkins and their daughter Katie; nephew A.J. Hoberg and his sons Corbin and Alexander; niece, Jessica Hoberg; and countless friends. Warren was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Evelyn Wilson.

A gathering of family and friends will take place from 2:00-5:00pm on Friday, January 20, 2017 at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home, 520 11th Street S. in Hudson WI. A Barbershop Chorus finale and vocal tribute in honor of Warren will take place at 5:00pm. Memorials may be directed to the UW River Falls Vocal Music Department.
