Wendy Ann Wegerer

d. October 5, 2024

Wendy Ann Wegerer, age 57, of Ellsworth, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on October 5, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of warmth. Born to Arthur and Jackie Wegerer on April 19, 1967, Wendy grew up in the town of Ellsworth, where she was cherished by all who knew her.

A proud graduate of Ellsworth High School, Wendy further pursued her education by earning an Associate’s degree in Accounting, all while working diligently at the Ellsworth Care Center. She later lent her talents to Treasure Island, where she made a lasting impression, and worked at DBI Industries as a dedicated government contractor until her untimely layoff on September 11, 2001.

Though her professional journey took unexpected turns, Wendy embraced life with resilience and grace, ultimately retiring. An avid reader with a deep love for literature, her home was a sanctuary filled with countless books—especially horror novels, reflecting her fondness for all things spooky. Halloween held a special place in her heart, a testament to her playful spirit.

Wendy found joy in the little things: cross-stitching, collecting Coca-Cola memorabilia, and decorating her home with charming owl and apple-themed treasures. In her younger years, she enjoyed cooking and baking, often filling her kitchen with delightful aromas that welcomed family and friends alike. Those who knew her often remarked on her kind heart, a quality she only truly recognized through the heartfelt messages from her high school friends who remembered her sweet nature.

In 1987, Wendy married her first husband, from which she was blessed with her beloved son, Robert. Their bond was a source of pride and joy for her. After their divorce in 1997, Wendy continued to be a loving and devoted mother, nurturing Robert with unwavering love and support.

Though the family grieves her passing, they find solace in celebrating her life and the countless memories she created.

Wendy is survived by her beloved son, Robert (Tara) Hines; her devoted stepmother, Molly Wegerer; her cherished aunts and uncles, Tom (Jean) Leonhardt, Darla (Bill) Moquin, Judy Wegerer, and Elaine Wegerer; step-sister Shelly Shaw; and a host of other loving step-siblings. She is preceded in death by her adoptive parents, Jackie and Arthur Wegerer Jr.; her grandmother, Hazel Wegerer; grandfather, Art Wegerer Sr.; and uncles, Terry and Ronald Wegerer, along with her dear aunt, Sherry Wegerer.
