William “Bill” Butler

William Woodrow “Bill” Butler, age 72 of Baldwin, formerly of Chicago, died unexpectedly Friday June 7, 2013 at his residence. Bill was born on January 17, 1941 in Chicago, Illinois; the son of William and Mary (Scieszka) Butler. He was raised in Chicago where he graduated from high school. As a young man, he enlisted in the armed forces where he proudly served in the United States Army. On March 17, 1962, he was united in marriage to Marilyn Ann Ptak at St. Clair’s Catholic Church in Chicago. This union would be further blessed with two sons; William and Joseph. Bill worked in the transportation industry his entire career. He worked as a manager, sub-contracting shipments for such companies as Ryder Trucking, Ford Motor Company, and CTI Logistics. Bill loved the outdoors and getting his hands dirty tending to his gardens. He enjoyed doing landscape projects and seeing how many blooms he could get out of his roses bushes. He also enjoyed pan fishing or trying to lure an elusive walleye. But his greatest love was being surrounded by his family.  Spending time with his best friend and wife of 51 years, appreciating his sons maturing, and watching his grandchildren be kids gave his the utmost pleasure. He will forever live on in their hearts.

Bill is fondly remembered by his wife Marilyn, sons Bill (Christine) Butler, Joe (Jeanie) Butler; grandchildren Jonah, Abigail, Ariel, Josiah; his brother Henry (Sue) Butler, and sister-in-law Georgeann Butler. He is preceded in death by his parents, infant grandchild Jared Matthew Butler, and his brother Michael Butler.

Funeral service for Bill will be 11AM Tuesday June 11 at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home in Baldwin with Fr. Jerry Harris officiating. Interment will be private. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at O’Connell’s Tuesday morning. Memorials are preferred.  Services are in the care of the O’Connell Family Funeral Home – Baldwin Chapel.  715.684.3434
