William “Bill” Cunningham

William Richard “Bill” Cunningham, age 84, of North Hudson, passed away on Tuesday evening, December 14, 2010 at the Christian Community Home of Hudson. He was born on June 8, 1926 in Ellsworth, WI; the only son of his Irish father, John “Jack” Cunningham, and German mother, Magdalena “Lena” (Richter) Cunningham. He attended school in Hudson, and proudly served in the US Army. On May 6, 1957, Bill was united in marriage to Mary Ferguson at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Hudson. They would be blessed with two children, Carol and Robert. From 1943 until his retirement in 1987, Bill worked at Andersen Windows as a chief operator. Bill served as a village president for North Hudson, and was a member of the VFW. He enjoyed fishing for walleye and northern, and hunting, especially with his friend Bill Wallace.

Bill is survived by his wife of 53 years, Mary; daughter Carol (Tom Feller) Cunningham of Eagan; son, Robert Cunningham of North Hudson; sister, Judith O’Connor of North Hudson, and Margaret “Peggy”  (Ray) Schmidt of North Hudson; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and four sisters: Grace Haessly, Jeanne Souter, Sally Ritchie, and Rosemary Cunningham.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Bill at 11:00 AM on Friday, December 17th at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Hudson. Fr. Dan Dahlberg will officiate. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery with military honors provided by the Hudson VFW and American Legion. Visitation one hour prior to Mass at church and on Thursday, December 16th from 4 until 7:00pm with a prayer service at 6:45PM at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home in Hudson, 715-386-3725. www.oconnellfuneralhomes.com
