William Peulen, age 81, of Hudson died on March 13, 2011 at the Christian Community Home in Hudson. He was born on October 6, 1929 to William & Anna (Legler) Peulen in Stillwater, Minnesota. He grew up in the Stillwater area and attended school in Oak Park Heights. At the time of the Korean War, William joined the US Army. He served in the Infantry where he earned a Purple Heart, among other awards. While in the army he earned the rank of Sergeant.

On April 30, 1954, William was married to Jeanette Muckenhirn in Hudson.  The marriage would be blessed with two sons; William and Joseph. The newly formed Peulen family settled in Hudson and William worked first as a house mover and then as both a short and long-haul truck driver. He retired in 2008.

William enjoyed the outdoors. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed trap and skeet shooting. He also loved to travel with the family. He was a proud member of the Bayport VFW and American Legion.

William is survived by his; wife, Jeanette, of Hudson; sons, Joseph of Marin County, CA and William of North Hudson, WI; sisters, Margaret Doerr, of Stillwater, MN and Marion Simser of  Caledonia, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents, William & Anna Peulen; brother Joseph & sister Elizabeth

A memorial service for William will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, March 19, 2011 at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home in Hudson.  Military Honors conclude the service.  Visitation will be held from 11am to 1pm.  Burial will be held at a later date.  Services are in the care of the O’Connell Family Funeral Home and Countryside Crematory, 715-386-3725.
