William Peter “Bill” Rosendal, age 85 of Baldwin WI, died on Wednesday, November 3, 2010 at the Baldwin Care Center. Bill was born on Christmas Day, December 25, 1924 in Evergreen Park, IL to parents Peter and Clara (Haan) Rosendal. Bill attended Evergreen Park Christian School, and graduated from Chicago Christian High School. After high school, Bill served his country in the United States Navy. On September 2, 1949 Bill was united in marriage to Ruth VanderMaar in Chicago, IL. Their union in marriage would be blessed with four daughters, Elaine, Cheryl, Ruth Anne, and Lynette.

As a young man, Bill worked many different jobs. He worked for the Edison Company, then spent time as a mechanic, and a truck driver. Bill also served as a volunteer firefighter for the Evergreen Park Fire Department. After a move to the Baldwin area, Bill purchased a dairy farm in 1968 and became his own boss. He retired from dairy farming in 1991. Bill enjoyed his work, and put his wide range of mechanical and carpentry skills to good use around the farm. Bill also enjoyed playing the organ, reading, and bowling. Bill was a great family man who loved being a dad and a grandpa. Bill was a kind man who liked to tease the ones he loved. He will be missed dearly by those who knew and loved him.

Bill is survived by his wife Ruth; daughters, Cheryl Rosendal, Ruth Anne (Jim) Fick, and Lynette Rosendal; grandchildren, Scott (Holly) Kooiman, Keith (Monica) Kooiman, Julie Kooiman, Dan Kooiman, Joe Kooiman, Susan Kooiman, Angie (Scott) Murphy, Tim (Julie) Fick, Shari (Clint) Breed, and Amy Fick; great-grandchildren, Abby, Jake, Jordan, Owen, Madeline, Ethan, Alaina, and Logan; son-in-law, Cal Kooiman; brother, Don (Betty) Rosendale; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Bill was preceded in death by his daughter, Elaine Kooiman; his parents, Pete and Clara; and his brother Richard (Johanna) Rosendal.

Funeral Services for Bill Rosendal will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, November 9, 2010 at the Baldwin Christian Reformed Church with Pastor Anson Veenstra officiating. Burial will follow at the Baldwin Cemetery, with Scott Kooiman, Keith Kooiman, Dan Kooiman, Joe Kooiman, Jim Fick, and Tim Fick serving as casketbearers.
