William J. Raleigh Sr.

William Joseph Raleigh Sr., age 63 of Somerset, WI, passed away August 16, 2013 after a 5 year battle with melanoma cancer at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN.  He was surrounded by his loving family.  William was born February 20, 1950 in Stillwater, MN; the son of John (Jack) and Alice (Jacobson) Raleigh.  He graduated from Somerset High School, the class of 1968.  He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy from September 1969 to December of 1970.  He was united in marriage on September 29, 1978 to Celeste Belisle at St. Anne’s Catholic Church.  Their marriage was blessed with a son, William Jr.  William worked as the general manager for River’s Edge until the time of his death.  He enjoyed playing cards, especially poker, watching movies and listening to music.  He was a true outdoorsmen, who enjoyed deer hunting.  He was an avid Green Bay Packer and Notre Dame fan.  Most important to Bill was his faith and his love for his family.  He was a devoted husband, loving father, wonderful grandfather and brother, who will be dearly missed.  

William is survived by loving wife of 34 years, Celeste; son, Billy Jr. (Ashley); granddaughter, Madison “the joy of his life”; brothers, John, Patrick & Michael; sisters, Jeanne Fabiano, Mary Pat (Keith) Schuna & Janelle (Robert) Sutherland; sister-in-law, Karen Raleigh; many nieces, nephews, other loving relatives & dear friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents, John (Jack) & Alice Raleigh; brother, Robert Raleigh; brother-in-law, Phillip Fabiano; and sister-in-law, Jennifer Belisle.  

Visitation will be held 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM Wednesday, August 21, 2013 at St. Anne’s Catholic Church, 141 Church Hill Rd, Somerset.  Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, August 22, 2013 at St. Anne’s Catholic Church, with a visitation 1 hour prior to Mass.  Interment with military honors will take place at St. Anne’s Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to St. Anne’s Parish or Cancer Research Center, Mayo Clinic.  Funeral services are entrusted to the O’Connell Family Funeral Home of Hudson (715) 386-3725.
