William L. Roy, age 84 of Hudson, formerly of Milwaukee, passed away December 27, 2020 at Regions Hospital in St. Paul, Minnesota from complications of a head injury sustained from a recent fall. Bill was born on February 28, 1936 in Pontiac, Michigan to William and Norah (Carnegie) Roy. In 1954, he graduated from East Lansing High School, where he met the love of his life, Mitzi Moore. Bill continued his studies at Michigan State University and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering. Upon graduating from college, Bill entered the US Air Force full time and rose to the rank of 1st Lieutenant. Bill and Mitzi were united in marriage on July 8, 1961 in Lansing, Michigan less than a year before he was called  to serve in the Vietnam War. Following his return to civilian life, Bill and Mitzi were blessed with two daughters and raised their family in the Milwaukee area, where Bill worked as a Packaging Engineer for several large companies. In retirement, he was involved in church and Habitat for Humanity. The couple relocated to Hudson to be closer to their daughters’ families.

Bill had a quiet wit and an easy smile and laugh. He adored his wife, Mitzi, and loved to travel around the US and the world with her. Bill exemplified patience and caring to his daughters; and relished in the joys and humor of being a grandfather. He was a devoted member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Hudson and proud of his Scottish heritage, where his mother had been born. In his down time, Bill found relaxation in woodworking, reading, and remodeling projects around the house.

Bill will remain in the hearts of his beloved wife of 59 years, Mitzi; daughters, Lisa (Jeff) Schmidt, and Heather (James) Solie; grandchildren, Thomas, Abby and Karen Schmidt; Jacob, and Erik Solie; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
