Floyd David Bolin

Floyd David Bolin, 68, died Friday, August 14, 2014 at United Hospital in Saint Paul, Minnesota from complications resulting from pneumonia.David was preceded in death by his parents.He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Mary (Huber) Bolin; his son, Justin Bolin (Ocoee, FL) and his wife, Marisa Cooke-Bolin, their children Chloe, Sadie, and Harrison, and daughter Jaclyn (Bolin) Bechel (Elmwood, WI) and her husband Eric Bechel and their children, Braeden and Bryce. Along with many beloved extended family members and dear friends.Born December 6, 1945 in Red Wing, MN to Floyd and Myrtle (Smith) Bolin. Floyd, known to most as David, was raised near Ellsworth WI on Garden Acres where his parents ran a truck farm providing local groceries and restaurants with vegetables. Floyd married Mary Huber of Prescott WI, November 3, 1973, and has resided in rural Prescott ever since.Floyd graduated from Ellsworth High School in 1964. After graduation he served as a medic in the US Army from 1965-1968. After serving he received his Associates Degree in Human Services from Inver Hills Community College. Following graduation he worked for the state of Minnesota at the State Hospital in Hastings, MN for 10 years until the hospital closed. Following his work with the state he worked as a boiler operator at N-Ren in Rosemount, MN for six years, and then for 3M as a boiler operator/stationary engineer for the next 20 years until he was no longer able to work.Floyd love spending time with family and friends. An avid bowler and golfer until a spinal cord injury in the summer of 2004 sidelined his activity. In his later years Floyd enjoyed being with and spectating his family’s activities and most of all spending time with his five grandchildrenAn animal lover, he always enjoyed his dogs and loved watching the birds. Floyd was a very giving and compassionate man who always lived life to the fullest. A huge heart that sadly quite beating way too soon.\”He took his personal setbacks with grace and dignity, and never lost his faith, his kindness, his interest in the world about him, or his sense of humor. By his example, he taught me a lot about what it means to live with adversity, and I’m certain I’m not alone. He has passed on, but his legacy lives on.\”A memorial will be set up in Floyds name to benefit spinal cord injury research.Hill Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Prescott, WI is assisting the family with the arrangements.
