Isora Irene Johnson

Isora Johnson died July 10, 2015, at Comforts of Home in River Falls. The second of three daughters, Isora was born January 25, 1923, in Hartland Township, to Warren and Beatrice (Helmer) Barkuloo. She attended rural schools until 1937 when she enrolled in River Falls High School, graduating in 1941.
On September 26, 1942, she married Peder O.N. Johnson in Red Wing, Minnesota. They raised two daughters on a farm near Roberts before divorcing in 1962.
During World War II, Isora worked for the Langwear Manufacturing Company, a defense plant in River Falls. From 1962 to 1982, she was employed in the business office at United Hospitals in St. Paul while living in Hudson. In 1998, she moved to Arizona but returned to Wisconsin in 2000.
Isora was a devoted mother and friend, an avid gardener, quilter, seamstress and writer. In retirement she became a self-taught doll maker and also spent many hours on her family genealogy.
Survivors include her daughters Dianne (Keith) Selbrede of Camarillo,California and Constance (Richard) Kramer of Prescott Valley, Arizona. Also grandsons Bradley (Lori) Selbrede of Pleasanton, California and Craig (Karen) Selbrede of Oxnard, California; great-grandsons Aaron and Graham Selbrede; and nieces Linda Bacon Morrow and Deb Casaw.
She was preceded in death by her sisters Margie Bacon and Helen Casaw as well as her friend and companion of over 20 years, Merrill J. Flowers of Stillwater, Minnesota.

A memorial service for Isora will be held 11:30 a.m., Monday, September 21, 2015 at Ezekiel Lutheran Church, River Falls, Wisconsin. Burial was in Hartland Cemetery which is located just across the road from the house once owned by her grandmother, Elizabeth Jane Barkuloo.
