LaVerne Theodore Swanson, 92, of Ellsworth, died Saturday, October 17, 2015 at the Kinnic Health And Rehab. Center River Falls, WI.

LaVerne was born on June 19, 1923 in Red Wing, MN, the son of Theodore and Edith (Weghorn) Swanson. As a child LaVerne spent some of his years in Madison, WI while his dad served in the state legislature. LaVerne was a graduate of Ellsworth High School and Globe College.
LaVerne worked as a postal clerk for the US Postal Service for 39 years. He married Ruby Johnson on June 1, 1973 at Bethel Covenant Church, Ellsworth, WI.

LaVerne is survived by his wife Ruby of Ellsworth, WI.
Step-children: Linda (Steve) Johnson, River Falls, WI; Shirley (John) Burkhalter, Owatonna, MN; Eunice (Lorne) Nelson, Wetaskiwin, Alberta, Canada; Pat (Craig) Nelson, Chetek, WI; Brian (Cheryl) Johnson, El Dorado, KS; Gary Johnson, Chicago, IL.

13 grandchildren and he is further survived by many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Everett Swanson and sisters Evelyn Leonard and Edith Swanson.

Funeral services for LaVerne will be at 11:00am, Saturday, October 24, 2015 at Bethel Covenant Church, Ellsworth, WI. Burial will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery, Ellsworth. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the funeral at the church on Saturday.
