Geraldine “Geri” Catherine Owen, 89, of Ellsworth, died Friday, January 29, 2016 at Atrium Post Acute Care, Ellsworth, WI.
Geri was born on April 20, 1926 on the farm in Goodhue, MN. She was the daughter of Gustave and Julia (Firl) Hinrichs. Geri attended rural school between Goodhue and Zumbrota through the 8th grade. She stayed home to help on the family farm. She went on to earn her G.E.D. at the age of 61, which she was very proud of. Geri married Sidney Owen on December 22, 1945 in Red Wing, MN. To this union four daughters were born: Kathleen, Ranae, Nancy and Patsy.
Geri worked many different places in Ellsworth but she especially enjoyed the housekeeping that she did and working at the flower shop. Her hobbies included, but were not limited to: embroidery, sewing, patching and making baby quilts for all of the grandkids.
She was an active volunteer and member of English Lutheran Church, Ellsworth.
Geri is survived by her daughters: Kathleen (Kenneth) Gahnz, Ranae (Duane) Peterson, Nancy (James) Turvaville, and Patsy (Leo) Lofgren.
Grandchildren: Cheryl (Paul) Wagner, Lisa Gahnz, Lori (Michael) Bernard, Aaron Peterson, Matthew (Beckie) Peterson, Dustin (Jesica) Peterson, Sharla (Ryan) Bauer, Jeff (Shari) Turvaville, Gena (Cory) Huppert, John (Tanya Vanasse) Lofgren, and Jesse (Tonya) Lofgren.
26 great-grandchildren
Two brothers and one sister: Robert Hinrichs, Donald (Joyce) Hinrichs, and Arlis Jacobson.
She was preceded in death by her husband Sidney in 1993, and her parents.
Geri’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the Duane and Marian Johnson family and Shari Huppert.

Funeral services for Geri will be at 11:00am, Monday, February 1, 2016 at English Lutheran Church, Ellsworth, WI. Burial will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday at the Hill Funeral Home from 2-5pm and for one hour prior to the funeral at the church on Monday.
