Shirley Fay Fuller

Shirley Fay Fuller, 80, of River Falls, died Thursday, February 18, 2016 at the Comforts of Home, River Falls, WI.

Shirley was born on August 20, 1935 in St Paul, MN the daughter of Earl C. and Eva L. (St. Martin) Adams. She graduated from North St. Paul High School and married A. Farnum Fuller in River Falls, WI. They were blessed with four children: Cynthia Louise, Don Glen, Rollan Farnum, and Faron Charles.

Her passion in life was music and she shared that love with multiple generations of children. She attended the McPhail School of Music. She played all the percussion instruments but specialized in the Marimba and Electric Harp. Shirley began performing as a youth and continued throughout her life. As a youth she performed professional with BeBe Shopp (Miss America 1948) and other groups at the Gladstone Playground. Shirley joined the Woodbury Chorus and Orchestra in 1973. This organization performed extensive around Minnesota, Wisconsin. They also performed throughout Europe‘s great churches and cathedrals. Shirley attended multiple hand bell symposiums so that she could become a hand bell director at the United Methodist Church, and later at the Lutheran church.
In 1992 she became the director at her own church, the First Congregational United Church of Christ. She started their handbell choir by donating the first three octave of bells and in 2005 she donated the next five octaves of bells. Shirley was also a composer and for the church’s 150th anniversary she composed a complete score for handbells that has been performed multiple times.
Shirley loved to sing and belonged to the church choir, the Music Madame’s, and the Woodbury Chorus and Orchestra. She was the pianist for the Moose Lodge and Eastern Star. Shirley’s other hobbies included gardening, crafts, and enjoying her grandchildren and great grandchildren as they grew up.

Shirley was preceded in death by her husbands A. Farnum Fuller and Dahlia Weitz, her parents, Earl and Eva Adams, brother, Earl “Bud” Adams, sister Donna Mae Forcier.

Shirley is survived by her four children: Cynthia L. (Ronald) Munn, Don (Toni) Fuller, Rollan (Debbie) Fuller and Faron (Linda) Fuller, one sister Nancy (Orin) Johnson, and sister in law Marie Adams. Grandchildren: Christie (Kyle) Danielson, Erica (Markis) Glover, Roxanna (Chris Linder) Fuller, Ryan (Tami) Munn, Aaron (Monica) Fuller, Kayla (Cory Kelly) Fuller, Katie (Craig) Bielke, Farnum (Kahla) Fuller, Faron (Erin Harrison) Fuller II, and Adam Fuller. Great-grandchildren: Alexis, Jonalynn, Brieana, McKenna, Tyler, Olivia, Chloe, Gavin, Damekah, Ryker, Audrey, Blessing, Michael, Daniela, Kamelia, Evaylyn, MacKenzie, Yuri, and Heiden.
One great-great-granddaughter: Trinity Fuller.
Shirley is further survived by her faithful loving companion of 16 years, Ronald Plante and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Shirley will be at 11:00am, Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at 1st Congregational Church, River Falls, WI. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery, River Falls. Visitation will be from 4-8pm on Tuesday, with The Women of the Moose service at 7:00pm at the Cashman-Hill Funeral Home, River Falls, and for one hour prior to the funeral at the church on Wednesday.
