Steven James Paurus

Steven James Paurus, age 64 of River Falls, passed away November 26, 2017 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Steven was born September 10, 1953 in Wadena, MN to Clifford Benhart and Mildred Elizabeth (Granroth) Paurus. Steve graduated from Alexandria High School, the Class of 1971. In 1975, Steve was united in marriage to Janine Margaret Lepinski. Their marriage was blessed with four daughters, Jamie, Lindsey, Heidi, and Heather. Steve worked for the City of River Falls as a Supervisor of the Water Works Department for 29 years, until his retirement in 2015. Steve was an avid deer hunter, who appreciated the outdoors, and always looked forward to the next hunting season. He loved fast cars and drag racing, and delighted in his time racing at the Rock Falls Raceway. He was a true fan and treasured his time watching the Green Bay Packers, Wisconsin Badgers, and UWRF Falcons play football. In his down time, Steve enjoyed watching old western movies. Steve was a devoted husband of 42 years to Janine, a father who provided unconditional love to his girls, and a supportive grandfather to his grandchildren. Steve took great pride in his family. He was his grandchildren’s biggest fans at their sporting events, and was never afraid to be silly and to provide them with smiles and lots of laughter. Steven will remain in the hearts of his loving wife, Janine; daughters, Jamie Paurus of River Falls, Heidi (Brian) Lyrek of Kimball, MN, and Heather Paurus of River Falls; 6 grandchildren: Adrian, Danielle, Alayah, Bryce, Brielle, and Brody; siblings: David (Louise) Paurus, Nancy (Jim) Hebert, Linda (Ken) Harker, and Duane (Rhoda) Paurus; brother-in-law, Richard Loween; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Lindsey Paurus; sister, Joyce Loween; nephew, John Hebert; and his parents. A Memorial Service will take place 11:00 AM Friday, December 1, 2017 at St. Bridget Catholic Church, 211 E. Division St., River Falls. A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held from 4:00 – 7:00 PM Thursday, November 30, 2017 at the O’Connell-Benedict Family Funeral Home, 225 South 3rd St., River Falls, and one hour prior to the service on Friday at church. Interment will take place at St. Bridget Catholic Cemetery.
