Born August 1, 1943, J. Howard Peterson of Chetek WI and formerly of Prescott WI, long-time carpenter and owner of Peterson Construction, passed away on Saturday, February 10, 2018. He was 74.

J. would like to let you know that his work here is done. He put down his hammer when he received the call; a sort of offer you can’t refuse, for an appointment from which he will not be returning. This assignment comes with a huge sign-on bonus, and a reunion with family and friends he has not seen in a long time.

His new mission takes him to a wonderful place where his happiest days will be car shows, his dog Buddy, camping, sitting by the campfire, and boating. He left instructions with his family to celebrate his mission here, which has now been completed.

J. is survived by his fiancée, Betsy; his daughters, Julie Peterson Books, and Carla Peterson; his grandchildren, Courtney and Cody Books; his sisters, Faye (Chuck) Apel, and Roxanne Steinke; and numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Eunice Peterson; his parents, Clara and Gordon Peterson; and a sister, Debbie Peterson.

To honor his wishes, you are invited to join together with family and friends and celebrate the life of J. Peterson from 1:00-4:00pm on Saturday, February 17th at the O’Connell-Benedict Family Funeral Home, 1339 Orrin Road in Prescott WI. A private family burial will be held at a later date.
