Jon Jay Segerstrom, age 80, of River Falls, WI passed away February 26, 2018.
Jon was born May 26, 1937 in River Falls, WI to Harold and Winnifred (Brown) Segerstrom. He graduated from River Falls High School, the Class of 1956. Jon proudly served his country in the United States Navy for 21 years. Jon was united in marriage to Carol Sue Preston on December 30, 1961. Together they raised two children, Jon Jr. and Cheryl. After retiring from the Navy, Jon worked as a maintenance engineer for the University of Wisconsin – River Falls for many years. He was a sports enthusiast, especially enjoying the Green Bay Packers and the LA Dodgers.
Jon is preceded in death by his wife, Carol; his parents, Harold and Winnifred Segerstrom; sister, Nancy Laska; in-laws, Willis and Katherine Preston; sister-in-law, Brenda Preston.
Jon is survived by his children, Jon Jr. (Linda Schultz) of North Carolina, and Cheryl (Greg) Feyereisen of River Falls; grandchildren, Nicole, Kara, and Ryan Segerstrom, Darren Moon, Daniel (Jennifer) Moon, Tyler (Kellie) Feyereisen; great-grandchildren, Weston Moon, Rayna, Kennedy, Asher, and Secora Moon, Brantley Feyereisen; siblings, Jim (Barb) Segerstrom, Sara “Sally” Larson, Frank Segerstrom.
Funeral services for Jon will be 3:30 p.m., Friday, March 2, 2018 at River Falls Assembly of God, 605 Valley View Drive, River Falls, WI, with Reverend Mike Bechtold officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Military honors conducted by the River Falls American Legion will immediately follow the service. Burial will take place at the Greenwood Cemetery, River Falls. Pallbearers assisting with the services will be: grandchildren, Darren Moon, Daniel Moon, Tyler Feyereisen, Nicole Segerstrom; great-grandson, Weston Moon; brothers, Frank Segerstrom, and Jim Segerstrom. Honorary pallbearers will be: grandchildren, Kara and Ryan Segerstrom; great-grandchildren, Rayna, Kennedy, Asher, and Secora Moon, and Brantley Feyereisen.
