Leonard “Bob” Hetland

Leonard “Bob” Robert Hetland, age 76, of River Falls, WI, formerly of Bismarck, ND, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at Comforts of Home in River Falls. Bob was born November 6, 1941 in Bismarck, ND to Leonard and June (Sharkey) Hetland. Bob proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps and was honorably discharged in 1965. On April 10, 1965, Bob was united in marriage to Elizabeth R. Bleibaum. Their marriage was blessed with 3 children, Bradley, Bethany, and Brett.
Bob owned and operated Hetlands Home Furnishings while living in North Dakota. After moving to River Falls, Bob worked as a sales manager for Menards in Hudson for 10 years. Bob had a fun loving spirit and attended clown school, learning the ropes of clowning, and delighted in bringing joy and smiles to children’s faces. He was an active member of Ezekiel Lutheran Church and the River Falls American Legion. Bob had a special place in his heart for his beloved cat, Gizzie. Bob loved his family well, and treasured his time at the family cabin, making memories, and enjoying a warm can of Old Milwaukee beer.

Bob will remain in the hearts of his loving wife of 53 years, Elizabeth; son, Bradley Hetland of Hudson, WI, daughter, Bethany (Jon) Sjoblad of Brooklyn Park, and son, Brett (Teresa) Hetland of Iowa; grandsons, Drake and Pierce; one brother, Francis “Gene” Eugene Hetland; two sisters, Elizabeth Anne Peterson and Mary Louise VanEeckhout; and many nieces and nephews.

Per Bob’s wishes, a private family service will be held honoring his life.
