Loren Mortimer Hanvelt, age 83, of River Falls, WI passed away unexpectedly at his residence on Wednesday, July 18, 2018. He was born on January 25, 1935 in Rock Elm, WI to Vonley John and Verta Blyth (Mortimer) Hanvelt. On November 11, 1967 he was united in marriage to Sharon Slocum. Loren worked maintenance at the University of Wisconsin – River Falls for many years.

Loren had a passion for collecting coins and antiques. One if his favorite pastimes was playing cards, with Euchre being his favorite. He enjoyed listening to the old classic country music that he used to dance to in his younger years.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Vonley and Verta Hanvelt; his wife, Sharon Hanvelt.

Loren is survived by his children, Kelly (Daryl) Fay of Prescott, WI, Jim (Melissa) Hanvelt of New Richmond, WI; grandchildren, Austin and Lizzy Fay.

Funeral services for Loren will be 2:00pm Friday, July 27, 2018 at O’Connell-Benedict Family Funeral Home, 225 South Third Street, River Falls, WI with visitation from 1:00-2:00pm. Interment will be at Greenwood Cemetery, River Falls.
