William Richard Marek

William R. Marek, age 67, of Prescott, WI passed away Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at the VA Medical Center in Minneapolis, MN. He was born on July 1, 1951 in Ellsworth, WI to George and Leorna (Yanisch) Marek. Bill served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. On March 4, 1972 he was united in marriage to Cynthia Ann Eggers in Red Wing, MN.
Bill will be remembered for his love of God, family, and country. He was a member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, a devoted husband to Cindy, a proud father of his boys, Jay and Matt, and was an active member of the American Legion in Prescott. He was a mail carrier for the US Postal Service for 37 years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and being a handyman. Bill was entertained while riding his scooter, being a Packer fan, and having Ginger, the dog, as a great companion.
He is preceded in death by his parents, George and Leorna Marek; mother-in-law, Mary Ann Eggers Collier Bollmann, Don Eggers, Bob Collier; brothers, Jerry Marek and Duane Marek.
Bill is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Cindy Marek; sons, Jay Marek (Angie), Matt (Shannon) Marek; grandchildren, Brayden, Daisy, Owen, and Noah; siblings, Bernie (Lani) Marek, Shirley Ann (Larry) Quinn; brothers-in-law, Steve (Debbie) Eggers, Bruce (MaryAnn) Eggers; sister-in-law, Chris Mailand; aunts, Dorothy Yanisch, Bernadine Reigleman, Helen Yanisch, many nieces, nephews, and Godchildren.
Memorial services for William will be 3:30 pm Monday, September 10th at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1048 Campbell St. N, Prescott, WI with a gathering of family and friends from 12:00-3:30 pm. Interment will be at Pine Glen Cemetery where military honors will be provided by Prescott American Legion – Castello-Madsen Post #61.
