Marion Sophie Johnson

Marion Sophie Johnson, age 84, of Ellsworth, WI died Saturday, September 22, 2018 at Preferred Senior Living in Ellsworth. She was born on November 11, 1933 in Red Wing, MN the daughter of Joseph and Adeline (Johnson) Buss. On May 17, 1952 Marion was united in marriage to Duane Johnson in Red Wing, MN. Together they made their home in Ellsworth where they raised their daughters, Cindy and Denise.
Marion worked for the family business, Johnson Sanitation Inc., established in 1973. In 1999 they retired and sold the business to their daughter and son-in-law, Denise and Dan Hager.
Marion was a 50 year member of the American Legion Auxiliary, also a member of the Moose Lodge and Rush River Trail Riders Club. She was also involved as a food critic for the family through the years. During retirement Marion and Duane enjoyed traveling to Arizona annually for 25 years along with many other vacation destinations.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Adeline Buss; her husband, Duane; two sisters, Marleen Buss and Delores Bayer; sister-in-law, Shirley Gilbertson; brothers-in-law, Harold Bayer, Hubert Gilbertson, and Arvid Johnson.
Marion is survived by her daughters, Cindy (Dennis) Baird, Denise (Dan) Hager; grandchildren, Tanya Christopherson, Darrin (Lindsay) Christopherson, Cody Baird, Jackson (Katie) Hager, Danielle (Joe) Goodier; great-grandchildren, TyNathan, Paris, Nora and Kaia Christopherson, Kayden Hager, Wyatt and Marshall Goodier; sister, Carol (Bob) Thom; brothers-in-law, Glenn Buss and Dennis Johnson and sister-in-law, Pearl Johnson. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Memorials preferred to the Cancer Society.
Funeral services for Marion will be 11:00 am Thursday, Sept. 27, 2018 at English Lutheran Church, 229 West Main Street, Ellsworth. Visitation will be 9:00-11:00 am on Thursday also at the church. Interment will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Ellsworth, WI.
Services have been entrusted to O’Connell-Benedict Family Funeral Home of Ellsworth.
