Janine Marie Engel, age 70, of River Falls, WI passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, January 5, 2019.
Janine was born on December 22, 1948 in Kenosha, WI to Lyle David and Elizabeth Katherine (Slagoski) Trowbridge. She graduated from Osseo High School in 1966. On June 24, 1972 Janine married Donald Engel at St. Mary’s Big River Catholic Church, River Falls. She worked for Qwest, now CenturyLink for 39 years, retiring in 2010.
Janine loved spending time with her grandchildren, playing cards, watching the MN Vikings, collecting teddy bears and shooting pool league.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Donald; grandson, Jordan Engel; parents, Lyle and Elizabeth Trowbridge; brothers, Brian Trowbridge, Phil Trowbridge; sisters-in-law, Marlys Denzer, Joanne (Harold) Morrow, Sherry Hines; brother-in-law, Mike Candy.
Janine is survived by her loving children, Christine Engel (Darren Dodge), David (Laura) Engel; grandchildren, Josh Herron, Briana Engel, Jessica Herron, Sapphire Engel, Samantha Herron; sister, Terry (Dave) Matzek; sisters-in-law, Shiela Trowbridge, Wendy Trowbridge, Nancy Candy; brothers-in-law, Gene (Vicki) Engel, Jack Denzer; numerous nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial 11:00 am Thursday, January 10th at St. Mary’s Catholic Church – Big River, W10137 570th Ave., River Falls, WI. Visitation will be 4:00-7:00 pm on Wednesday, January 9th at the church and one hour prior to Mass on Thursday. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery – Big River.
