Dr. Alan Orton Stewart

Dr. Alan Orton Stewart, age 93 of River Falls, WI passed away Friday, February 8, 2019 at Kinnic Health & Rehab in River Falls. He was born on March 7, 1925 in Minneapolis, MN to Earl and Esther (Voss) Stewart. Alan graduated from Robbinsdale High School with the class of 1942. On September 16, 1949 he was united in marriage to Jean Adair Norlander in Robbinsdale, MN.
Following a stint in the U.S. Navy, during WWII, he took advantage of the GI Bill, enrolling in the University of Minnesota, also signing up for ROTC. Graduating with a degree in dentistry and a commission in the USAF, Alan and Jean moved to River Falls, WI in 1952. There, he established his practice and they raised their family. Alan continued to serve in the Minnesota Air National Guard, eventually retiring with the rank of colonel. He remained active in his church and numerous other organizations in River Falls and the surrounding area well into his senior years.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jean; two sons, John and James; a brother, Jimmy.
Dr. Stewart is survived by his daughter, Jodie (Lowell) Falde; grandchildren, Nathan (Melissa), Nicolas (Kathryn) and Noelle Falde; great-grandchildren, Caitlyn, Avery, Colton, Camden, Harper; daughter-in-law, Kathy Stewart; and many friends.
A memorial service for Alan will be 11:00am Thursday, March 7th (which would have been Dr. Stewart’s 94th birthday) at Ezekiel Lutheran Church, 202 South Second Street, River Falls, WI. Visitation will be 4:00-7:00pm Wednesday, March 6th at O’Connell-Benedict Family Funeral Home, 225 South Third Street, River Falls and will continue one hour prior to the service, at the church on Thursday.
