Maizie loved music and dancing, and met, LaVerne Cobian at a dance in Wylie Park, SD. Her dance card was full, but Vern, while not one to enjoy dancing, got his name on her dance card. They purchased a farm in Big River and later in Hager City. They later moved to Prescott with their four children, and LaVerne started working at 3M.
She attended the University of Wisconsin, pursuing a nursing degree. Marie worked at Super Value in Red Wing, Prescott Marine, and Stardust Motel. She also worked for Dr. Holler in Hudson for 20 plus years. Maizie and Vern built the first apartment buildings in Prescott. They owned them from 1971 to 1992. They were also owner/operators of C&L bar in River Falls.
Marie enjoyed working, cooking, dancing, and entertaining. She also treasured her time playing cards, canoeing, bowling, and socializing at the casino. She loved her family and was proud to have two grandchildren. She delighted in her time spent at their cabin in Spooner. She was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Parish in Prescott, and was an active member of the Alter & Rosary Society. She volunteered many hours at Prescott Nursing Rehabilitation Community.
Marie will be remembered for her elegance, the joy she brought to others, being social and active, and her acceptance of everyone.
