Marian Horness

Marian Horness, age 87 of River Falls, passed away August 29, 2019 at the Kinnic Health & Rehab in River Falls. Marian was born August 25, 1932 in Sheboygan, WI to Samuel and Julia (Eklund) Fuchs. She graduated from Sheboygan Central High School, the Class of 1950. Marian was united in marriage on October 10, 1953 to Roger Horness. Their union was blessed with a son, Dave and daughter, Lindarae. Marian worked for a number of years as a kindergarten aide at Westside Elementary School. She also served as the church secretary for Luther Memorial for many years. After the death of her husband, Roger in 1988, Marian was embraced by Roger’s Lions Club and became the “mint lady,” for her part in distributing mints for the Club.

Marian was a devoted member of Luther Memorial Church since 1970. She found great joy and friendship singing with the church choir. She loved taking trips and cruises with her family. She was very close with her sisters and enjoyed her frequent gatherings in Sheboygan. Marian was a child at heart and had wonderful relationships with her nieces, nephews and their children. She delighted in the special help that she received from her great nephew, Cole. Marian genuinely enjoyed people. Her trips to the grocery store and the bank became social outings where she would catch up with friends. She was as funny as she was kind and often surprised people with her quick wit.

Marian will live on in the hearts of her son, Dave of River Falls, WI; daughter, Lindarae (Eric) Ohlson of Reno, NV; granddaughter, Leandra Ohlson; sister, Sonia (David) Herber of Sheboygan, WI; as well as many nieces, nephews, relatives, and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roger; her parents, Samuel and Julia Fuchs; sisters, Ruth Anderson and Pat Moe; and 2 infant brothers, Sammy and Eddie.

A Memorial Service will take place 3:00 PM Wednesday, September 4, 2019 at Luther Memorial Church, 420 S. 4th St., River Falls, with Pastor Scott Jensen officiating. A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. There will also be a small gathering at her gravesite on Friday, September 6, 2019 at 2:00 at Sunrise Memorial Gardens in Sheboygan, where she will be interred.

The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the Kinnic Health & Rehab for the loving care they gave Marian during her long residence. She loved them dearly and it was such a comfort to know that their Mother was in such giving and capable hands.
