Pauline Schmidbauer, age 94 of River Falls, WI, passed away February 23, 2020 at Our House Senior Living in River Falls. Pauline was born June 30, 1925 the second youngest of eight children in Toronto, Canada to Calcedonius and Fortunata (Vassallo) Cachia. On April 8, 1967, Pauline was united in marriage to William Anthony Schmidbauer at St. Benedict Catholic Church in Toronto. Their marriage was blessed with two children, Kathryn and John. In her earlier years, Pauline worked as a stock clerk for Imperial Oil in Toronto. When the children were born, Pauline’s focus became her family as she stayed home to lovingly raise her children.

Pauline was a devoted member of St. Bridget Catholic Church in River Falls for 50 years. Pauline was always welcoming and friendly, with a caring heart for others. She graciously volunteered her time helping in the church and school office, getting the daily church mail, serving as a Eucharistic minister, as well as serving in other activities and committees. Pauline and Bill enjoyed being social, playing cards, and delighted in a good hand of cribbage and bridge with friends. She appreciated music and enjoyed her quiet time working on crossword puzzles. Pauline loved and adored children and was especially proud of her six granddaughters.

Pauline is survived by her daughter, Kathryn Schmidbauer of River Falls, WI; son, John (Janice) Schmidbauer of Kenosha, WI; granddaughters, Sarah, Rachel, Barbara, Christine, Mary, and Emily; sister, Mary Gilgan of Oakville, Canada; sister-in-law, Mary Cachia of Toronto, Canada; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William; parents, Calcedonius and Fortunata Cachia; parents-in-law, Frank and Rose Schmidbauer; siblings, Carmello (Mary) Cachia, Joseph Cachia, Virginia (Anthony) DeBatisse, Paul Cachia, Joseph F. (Laurine) Cachia, and John Cachia; and brother-in-law, Ed Gilgan.

A visitation will be held 5:00 – 7:00 pm Sunday, March 1, 2020 at St. Bridget Catholic Church, 211 E. Division St., River Falls, as well as one hour prior to Mass on Monday. Mass of Christian Burial will take place 11:00 am Monday, March 2, 2020 at St. Bridget Catholic Church with Rev. Jerry Harris officiating. Graveside services will take place 2:30 pm Tuesday, March 3, 2020 at Calvary Cemetery in Sheboygan, WI. In lieu of flowers, memorials in memory of Pauline may be given to St. Bridget Catholic Church, St. Croix Hospice, or Our House Senior Living.
