Marlys Fiedler

Marlys Yvonne Fiedler, age 90 of Prescott, WI, passed away September 10, 2020 at the Deerfield Gables in New Richmond.  Marlys was born July 3, 1930 in Ellsworth, WI to Curtis and Dora (Husfloen) Eaton.  She graduated from Prescott High School, with the Class of 1948.  Marlys furthered her education at UW-Stout, obtaining a degree in Home Economics in 1952 and completed her Dietetic Internship in 1953 at Ancker Hospital, St. Paul, MN. On October 10, 1953, Marlys was united in marriage to Leland Fiedler.  Their lives were blessed with 55 years of marriage and four children, Steven, Kathryn, James and Karen.  Marlys worked alongside her husband on their multi-generational farm, lovingly raised her children and held a career as a Registered Dietitian Consultant for many years.

Marlys was an active member of the Prescott Community.  She served on a committee to bring Freedom Park to Prescott, a place she truly loved to spend her time at.  She also served on the School Board for many years.  Dedicated to her faith, Marlys was a devoted member of the Prescott United Church of Christ, serving on the church board.  Marlys appreciated the beauty of the outdoors, enjoyed tending to her flower and vegetable gardens, and captured the splendor of nature in her artwork and watercolor paintings.

Marlys will remain in the hearts of her children, Kathryn (Lowell) Enerson of River Falls, WI, James Fiedler of Britt, IA, and Karen Fiedler of Roberts, WI; grandchildren, Jason (Nikki) Benson and Jared (Kristie) Benson; great-grandchildren, Kendra, Logan and Luke; brother, Harley (Charlotte) Eaton; sister, Dorothy Ahlgren; as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Leland; son, Steven Fiedler; and brother, Clair Eaton.

Private family services honoring Marlys’ life will be held at Freedom Park in Prescott.  Marlys will be interred next to her husband Leland at Pine Glen Cemetery in Prescott.  Memorials are preferred to the Prescott United Church of Christ.
