Lucille Owen

Lucille Christine Owen, age 100 of Ellsworth, WI, passed away September 12, 2020 at the Ellsworth Health System.  Lucille was born May 13, 1920 in Pliny Township, MN to Joseph and Easie (Burgess) Hayes.  On May 1, 1939, Lucille was united in marriage to Kenneth Lorin Owen.  Their marriage was blessed with 5 children, Lois, Mary Ann, Bernard, Judy and Dennis.  Lucille and Kenneth shared 47 years of marriage, until his passing in 1986.  Lucille had a caring heart for others and enjoyed her work as a Nurse’s Aide for over 30+ years at the Ellsworth Care Center.

Most important to Lucille was her family.  She was a loving and nurturing mother and grandmother.  Lucille loved cooking and delighted in entertaining her family.  She enjoyed collecting porcelain dolls, tending to her flower gardens and taking on home improvement projects.

Lucille will remain in the hearts of her children, Lois Melstrom of Ellsworth, Mary Ann (Ralph) Gilbertson of Beldenville and Dennis (Trudi) Owen of Ellsworth; daughter-in-law, Sharon Owen of Beldenville; grandchildren:  Debbie Noltee, Julie Melstrom, Kevin Melstrom, Brian Melstrom, Daryl Melstrom, Bill (Julia) Gilbertson, Lori Bauer, Tim Owen, Amanda (Tom) Rohl, Joseph Owen, Tony (Lisa) Owen and Troy (Erin) Owen; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; sister, Joyce Quade of Red Wing, MN; along with many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth; son, Bernard Owen; daughter, Judy Owen; granddaughter, Kelly Julson; great-granddaughter, Brittney Julson; son-in-law, Royce Melstrom; 6 brothers; 2 sisters;  her parents, Joseph and Easie Hayes; and grandson-in-law, Ken Noltee.

A Funeral Service Honoring Lucille’s Life will take place 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 17, 2020 at the O’Connell-Benedict Family Funeral Home, 130 N Grant St., Ellsworth, with Pastor Todd Spieker officiating.  A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.  Interment will take place at Diamond Bluff Cemetery.  Lucille’s grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.
