Hilda Lovell Obituary

Hilda Frances Lovell, age 97 of River Falls, WI, passed away September 13, 2020 at the Kinnic Health & Rehab in River Falls.  Hilda was living independently in her own apartment until she fell at home in late May which resulted in the need for rehab and then long-term care.  She was able to enjoy a social distance visit with members of her family on August 25th to celebrate her 97th birthday.  Hilda was born August 25, 1923 in Oak Grove Township (Big River), WI to Emil B. and Bertha (Febegar) Langer.  On June 13, 1946, Hilda was united in marriage to George Lovell.  Their marriage was blessed with three children, Gary, Pat and Roxanne, and 49 years.

Hilda lovingly raised her family and took wonderful care of her home. She was an exceptional cook and baker, and liked sharing her sweets.  Hilda enjoyed gardening and preserving the fruits of her labor by canning and freezing.  She delighted in trying her luck at bingo, outings at the casino, playing a good hand of euchre and dancing.  Spending time with her grand and great-grandchildren brought much happiness to her life.  In her quiet time, she found peace in needlework, sewing and quilting.  She was an Auxiliary member of the Fletcher-Pechacek American Legion – Post 121 for 50 + years and was always a great supporter of poppy sales.  Devoted to her faith, Hilda was a dedicated member of St. Bridget Catholic Church and volunteered her time with funeral luncheons and other events throughout the years.

Hilda will remain in the hearts of her daughters, Pat (David) Crist of FL and Roxanne (Tony) Lovell-Olson of River Falls; daughter-in-law, Sharon Lovell; 8 grandchildren, Jeffrey (Mary) Liddle, Kelly (Andy) Zalusky, Brian Lovell, Michael Lovell, Laura (Chad) Norton, Shawn (Julia) Olson, Adam (Alyssa) Olson and Kelsie Olson; 12 beloved great-grandchildren; along with many dear nieces, nephews and friends.  She was preceded in death by her husband, George; son, Gary Lovell; and 9 siblings, Henry Langer, Anna Janish, Emil Langer, Emillie “Millie” Brown, Bertha Yanish, Fred Langer, Margarite Langer, Gertrude Merta and Harry Langer; and her parents, Emil B., Sr. and Bertha Langer.

Mass of Christian Burial will take place 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 18, 2020 at St. Bridget Catholic Church, 211 E Division St., River Falls, with Fr. Gerald Harris officiating.  A visitation will be held starting at 12:30 p.m. until the start of Mass at the church, wearing a mask and social distancing required.  Interment will take place at St. Bridget Catholic Cemetery.  In memory of Hilda, memorials are preferred to the discretion of the family.
