Patricia Ann “Patti” Berning, age 70 of Ellsworth, died on Sunday, October 11, 2020. Patti was born October 9, 1950 in Saint Paul, Minnesota to parents Clarence and Goldie (Schostag) Bibeau. Patti attended school in White Bear Lake, and graduated from White Bear Lake High School with the Class of 1968. Patti worked at MSI Insurance Company, and also provided in-home daycare for many years. She was united in marriage to Donald Berning on May 12, 1984, and their marriage was blessed with a daughter, Carolyn.

Patti enjoyed fishing, camping, horseback riding, as well as dancing, especially polka and waltz. Along with Don, Patti also volunteered through their local 4-H club. Patti loved hummingbirds, and always had a feeder out for them. She enjoyed talking and reminiscing at family get-togethers. Patti especially loved time spent with her grandkids, going to their after school activities, and watching movies with them. She will be missed dearly.

Patti is survived by her daughter, Carolyn (Michael Brink) Maciej, grandkids, Rebecca, Cameron, Gabe, and Bella; sisters, Donna Bibeau, and Shirley (Jim) Anderson; brothers-in-law, Larry (Sharon) Berning, and Roy (Bev) Berning; sister-in-law, Theresa (Jim) Lacy; her special dog, Dukie; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Patti was preceded in death by her husband, Don Berning; her parents; her siblings-in-law, Marvin Berning, and Mary Lou (Les) Iehl.

Services for Patti Berning will be held at 2:00pm on Thursday, October 22, 2020 at the Zion Covenant Church, 210 N. Beulah Street in Ellsworth, with Pastor David Hugare officiating. Visitation will be held at church one hour prior to the service. Use of masks and social distancing will be encouraged.
