Lois Ruhr

Lois Jean Ruhr, age 93 of Hastings, MN, formerly of Prescott, WI, passed away December 18, 2020 at the Regina Assisted Living in Hastings from complications of Covid-19.  Lois was born April 24, 1927 in El Paso Township, WI to Severin and Birdie (Blaisdell) Kittleson.  She graduated from Prescott High School, the Class of 1945.  Lois married the love of her life, Eugene B. Ruhr on October 25, 1952 and they shared 65 years together. Their marriage was blessed with six children: twin daughters, Laurie and Mary, Janet, Jeanne, Bill, and Deb. Lois’ highest calling was lovingly raising her family, in addition she worked as a hairdresser and was a receptionist for Dr. Laney for many years.

Family was everything to Lois. She and Eugene provided a loving home, many sweet memories, and a wonderful example of love to their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Lois’ heart was happiest when she was surrounded by her family.  She cherished family vacations when the children were growing up, her time with family at Fisherman’s Rest Memorial Day picnics and monthly family luncheons.  In her quiet time, she enjoyed quilting, reading and baking.  Lois had a gracious heart for volunteering her time at St. Joseph Catholic Church.   She was also a proud TOPS member.  Lois and Gene were fortunate to share many winters in Las Vegas.

Lois will remain in the hearts of her children, Jan Wuorenma, Jeanne (Tom) Michels, Bill (Lynn) Ruhr, Deb (Dave) Dyson; 13 grandchildren: Jennifer (Rob) Johnson, Shannen (Nick) Holz, Blake (Nava) Ghalili-Wuorenma, Brian (Denise) Dodge, Chris Dodge, Breanna (Dan) Schmitt, Katie (Ray) Murphy, Lauren Ruhr, Meaghan Sakalos, Olivia Dyson, Brianna (Driss) Houssa, Adam Dyson, and Brady Dyson; great-grandchildren, Tate & Tevin Johnson, Clara Holz, Solace Ghalili-Wuorenma, Taylor & Cooper Dodge, Nolan Schmitt and Amelie Houssa; brother, David (Donna) Kittleson; sisters-in-law, Joan Steffenhagen, Millie Ruhr, Pearl Kittleson, Ardis Kittleson and Barbara Kittleson; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene; twin daughters, Laurie & Mary; her parents, Severin and Birdie Kittleson; brothers, John, Wayne, Arnold and Sam Kittleson; sisters, Virginia Ofstie and Janet Huppert; and her son-in-law, Eddy Wuorenma.

Due to the pandemic, private family graveside services will take place at St. Joseph Catholic Church Cemetery in Prescott, WI.  Lois’ grandchildren have the honor as pallbearers.  A celebration of Lois’ life will take place at a later date.

The ongoing pandemic has brought challenging times for many.  Something Lois always loved to do was to assist others who could use some help, please honor Lois’ memory by donating to your local food pantry.
