Erva Lundgaard

Erva Cornelia Lundgaard, age 96 of River Falls, WI, passed away peacefully at Kinnic Health & Rehab in River Falls WI on December 21, 2020.  Erva was born December 19, 1924 in Spring Valley, WI to Nim and Dena (Danielson) Anderson.  She graduated from Spring Valley High School with the Class of 1943.  On September 30, 1944, Erva was united in marriage to William Edwin Lundgaard.  They resided on the Lundgaard farm north of Lawton throughout their married life.  Their marriage was blessed with 2 children, Gloria and Wayne.  Erva and William shared 31 loving and devoted years together until William’s death in 1975.   Erva loved time spent with family, especially grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a busy homemaker, often helped with outside farm chores, but always had time to  help others whatever the need.    After her children were grown, she worked at Smeads Mfg in River Falls for many years.  She moved   from the farm to her house in River Falls in 1982.

Erva  trusted the Lord Jesus as her personal Savior and thus knew His abiding presence in her heart and life.  She was a faithful member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church  where she served faithfully as  Sunday School superintendent and  teacher for many years, as well as being very involved with women’s Bible study groups, and many other areas of church activities.  She had a great sense of humor, contagious smile and was a very fun person.  Erva  loved to bake  and generously shared with  family, friends, neighbors and co-workers. Those who knew Erva always looked forward to her homemade  bars, cinnamon rolls, Swedish tea rings,  and homemade pies.  She made the best lefse and lots of it  at  Christmas time.

Erva  is survived  by  daughter, Gloria Hanson of Hudson, WI; son, Wayne (Karen) Lundgaard of Ellsworth, WI; grandchildren:  Jeff (Brianne) Hanson, Sonia (Erik) Peterson, Nicole (Tim) Harris, and Leah Lundgaard; great-grandchildren, Jeffrey Hanson Jr., Joshua Hanson, Leif Peterson and Ella Peterson; sister, Florence Gullickson of Eau Claire, WI; and sister-in-law, Della Anderson of Frederic, WI; many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.  She  was  be  deeply missed by all.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William; her parents; siblings:  Nethis (Martin) Peterson, Ernest (Frances) Anderson, Trudella Anderson, Minnard Anderson;  son-in-law, Kenneth Hanson; brother-in-law Vern Gullickson.

Out of concern for precautions regarding the ongoing Covid  pandemic, private family graveside services at 11:00AM, Saturday, Dec 26, with Rev. Lucas Ladnier officiating.  Burial will be at the ‘Old’ Our Savior’s Lutheran Cemetery in rural Beldenville.  A celebration of Erva’s life will take place at a later date.

Erva’s  family extends special thanks and appreciation to the staff  of Kinnic Health & Rehab  who kindly and lovingly cared for Erva  throughout her 5 years there.
