Thomas Bissell Springett

Thomas B. Springett, age 75 of Ellsworth, WI, died on Wednesday, February 3, 2021, at his residence. Tom was born January 5, 1946, in Hornell, New York, to parents William and Ida (Bissell) Springett. He attended school in Arkport, NY, graduating from Arkport Central with the Class of 1965. Tom furthered his education at Corning University with an emphasis in mechanical engineering. Tom was united in marriage to Treasa Schommer on June 29, 1991, in Henrietta, NY.

Tom spent thirty-three years in Research and Development engineering and leadership with the Eastman-Kodak Company, retiring in 1998. After retiring, Tom was able to focus more time enjoying his life-long passion of owning and raising draft horses. For the past thirty plus years, he spent time breeding, raising, and showing the magnificent Percheron draft horses all across the United States and Canada, competing in all performance and halter classes, most notably with the six- and eight-horse hitch of registered mares. Tom was a good athlete growing up, and excelled as a pitcher in baseball, where he went on to pitch at the collegiate level. As a sports fan, he followed the New York Yankees, as well as the Dallas Cowboys. Tom also had a love for the outdoors, and especially hunting white-tailed deer. Tom will always be remembered for his deep love of his family and friends.

Tom is survived by his wife Treasa; his children, Greta Springett, Kati Springett, and Nathan (fiancée Cara) Springett; granddaughters, Olivia and Alexis; sister, Alayne (Lew) Hess; as well as many other relatives and friends.

Tom was preceded in death by his father and mother, William and Ida (Bissell) Springett, and his sister, Laura (Springett) Emo.

Due to the ongoing pandemic, and with the safety and concern for others in mind, a private family service will be held. Tom’s final place of rest will be the Clayfield Cemetery in Ellsworth, WI. Memorials honoring Tom will be directed at the discretion of the family. Services are entrusted to the O’Connell-Benedict Funeral Home of Ellsworth.
