Norman Moshou

Norman A. Moshou, age 97 of Prescott, WI and formerly of Minneapolis, MN, passed away on July 3, 2021. Norman was born June 9, 1924 in Minneapolis, MN to Scarlatos and Martha (Bruge) Moshou. He graduated from Minneapolis Central High School, with the Class of 1942. Norman enlisted and proudly served his country in the United States Army Air Corps. After serving his country, Norman furthered his education at the University of Minnesota, where he studied Architecture. He was united in marriage to Mary McFarland. Their lives were blessed with three children, Martha, Janice and David.

Entrepreneurial minded from a young age, Norman had great interest in real estate and land development. While living in Minneapolis, Norman was instrumental in building multi-unit apartment complexes and numerous homes. He also owned the distinguished Diamond Lil’s Club in Minneapolis.  In the early 1970’s, Norman moved to Prescott, WI, where he purchased a farm along the river at an auction from the Jacques family.  It was there that he began development of the Riverwood, Whitetail, and Oak Grove Heights subdivisions. Norman also rebuilt and operated the Lil’ Heifer in Prescott, where Muddy Waters is located today. Norman also owned and operated the N.C. Bennett Lumber Company in Minneapolis during this time. On November 30, 2012, Norman married Deborah Thompson. Together, they shared many sweet memories, and enjoyed spending winters in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Outside of work, Norman loved to golf and was a member of the Clifton Highlands Golf Club in Prescott and Continental Golf Club in Scottsdale. In younger years, he also enjoyed hunting and fishing. Norman was a member of the Plymouth Congregational Church.  He was also a member of the Zuhrah Shrine and Masonic Lodge in Minneapolis, as well as the American Legion and Masonic Lodge in Prescott.  He was especially proud of his Greek heritage. Admired and well respected, Norman will be remembered for being generous, loving, wise, authentic and kind. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Norman will remain in the hearts of his wife, Deborah Thompson, and her son Jeffrey (Nancy) Gernand; his daughters, Marti Naslund of Golden Valley, MN and Janice (Richard) Voss of St. Paul, MN; his son, David Moshou of St. Louis Park, MN; as well as other dear relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.

A Memorial Service celebrating the life of Norman Moshou will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, July 14 at the Old Ptacek’s Event Center, 1449 Orrin Road in Prescott, WI 54021. Military Honors provided by American Legion Post 61 will follow the service. A reception and luncheon will then follow. A private family burial will take place at the Lakewood Cemetery in Minneapolis, MN. Memorials honoring Norman Moshou may be directed to a Veteran’s organization, the American Heart Association, or to an organization of the donor’s choosing.
