Steven “Ole” Olson

Steven “Ole” Dennis Olson passed away unexpectedly January 8, 2022 at his home in Ellsworth, WI.

Ole was born in Maiden Rock, WI to parents Howard and Lorraine (Turnbell) Olson. He grew up alongside his six siblings. Ole attended Ellsworth High School and after graduation, went into the military, serving 4 years in the US Navy. After his time in the service, Ole met his first wife, Cheryl Dankers.  He would later wed Lee (Vogel) Olson in 1995.

Ole was a familiar face in town and always happy to have a conversation with a stranger. He was a proud business owner of Ole’s Bar up until the late 1980’s.  Ole worked at the post office and later would start a business out of their home. After retiring from the post office, he continued to work at their home based business. Ole retired from their business in 2016. When he wasn’t working behind the counter, you could likely find him nose deep in a book.  He loved to read! As much time as he spent indoors, reading, catching up on Mystery Science 3000 episodes, and cheering on the Packers and Brewers- he was also quite the outdoors man with a passion for hunting and fishing.

Ole will remain in the hearts of his mother Lorraine; wife Lee; brother Dave; sisters, Karen Sargent, and Sandy (Mick) Langer; step-children, Jake (Gina) Hinrichs, Emmy (Luke) Husfloen; 6 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, friends, and customers.

He was preceded in death by his father Howard; brothers, Art, Jack, and Dale; brother-in-law Jerry Sargent; nephew Brian Sargent; and grandson Logan Hinrichs.

A Celebration of Ole’s life is going to be held 12:00pm – 4:00pm, Saturday, January 22, 2022 at the Gas-lite Bar and Grill in Ellsworth, WI. A private burial will take place at Maiden Rock Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, family asks for donations of hats, mittens, or scarves to the “Basics for Local Kids” community program in St. Croix or Pierce County.
