Mary Martha Rother, age 86 of Prescott, WI passed away peacefully on March 13, 2022 surrounded by her family at her home in Prescott. Mary was born to Rudolph and Martha (Renchin) Chmelik on September 30, 1935 in Steele County, MN. She attended Faribault High School graduating with the class of 1953. On January 16, 1954, Mary married the love of her life Eugene Rother at Guardian Angels Catholic Church, Hastings, MN. Their union blessed them with five children: David, Diane, Joan, Nancy, and Annie.

Mary grew up on a family farm being one of twelve children in her family and then working and raising a family on a farm as well. Mary was particularly fond of cows. She enjoyed four wheeling, reading and playing cards with her family and friends. She was a very independent woman and enjoyed taking care of things on her own. She found great pleasure in maintaining her own lawn. It seemed every year the lawn got slightly bigger. She would sometimes mow the lawn several times a week to keep it absolutely pristine at any given time. Mary was a very loving wife, mother and grandmother; she will be greatly missed by her family and those who knew her.

Mary is survived by her children: Annie, DePere, WI, Nancy (Bill Holst) Beeler, Prescott, WI, Diane Rother, Eden Prairie, MN, Joan Halverson, Hager City, WI, and Dave (Connie Jo) Rother, Hager City, WI; 11 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; siblings: Jean Forestor, Betty (Kenny) McGregor, Marvin (JoAnn) Chmelik, Rudy( Rita) Chmelik, Martha Piepho, and Audrey (Eugene) Gehke. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene; parents, Rudolph and Martha Chmelik, siblings: James, Herb, John, Ruth and Margie.

A Funeral Liturgy will be held at 1:30pm Thursday, March 17, 2022 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Prescott. A visitation will start at 12:00pm until the start of Mass. Burial will be at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
