Ronald Anthony Shafer, 77years, 11 months and 10 days old, of Beldenville, WI died Saturday morning at the Kinnic Long-Term Care and Rehabilitation Center, River Falls, WI.Ron was born at home, in the town of El Paso, Pierce County, Wisconsin to Carl and Marie (Weber) Shafer. Ron graduated from Spring Valley High School in 1954. He enlisted in the US Air Force in 1955 and was activated for the Gaddafi conflict. He was honorably discharged in 1958. Ron married Gladys Geldert on July 18, 1959, just celebrating their 55th wedding anniversary. They were blessed with four children. Ron farmed on the family farm and did various mechanical jobs in and around the area. He worked as an aircraft mechanic for 33 years for Northwest Airlines, retiring in 1999. Ron continued farming on his own hobby farm while at Northwest, he also plowed the neighborhood driveways for 39 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, tractors, the Brewers, the Packers, playing cards, making maple syrup and joking around with everyone he met. Ron had an amazing faith in God. After retirement he and his wife enjoyed years at the camper and spending time with family and friendsRon was a member of Cross Roads Community Church, Ellsworth, WI.He is survived by his loving wife Gladys.Four children: Michael and his wife Chris; Mark and his wife Lorrie; Nancy Shafer and her friend Jim Schunke; Patrick and his wife Alice.Grandchildren: Joshua Deden, Anthony Nelson, Chad Shafer, Stephanie Morales, Danielle Bennett, Benjamin Bennett, Amber Shafer, and Samuel Ngatia, and Maryann Waithera.Great-grandchildren: Alexis Nelson, Mikayla Nelson, and Wyatt Nelson, Sara Deden, and Noah Deden.Sisters: Jean Nelson; JoAnn (George) Brenner; Judy (Doug) Harer; Mary (Mike) Casey; Lana (Richard) Anderson; Bonnie (Ron) Drabowicz; and Kathleen Shinn.Sister-in-law, Jean Shafer.Ron was preceded in death by a grandson Eric Schalow, parents Carl and Marie, and brothers Robert and James. Hill Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Ellsworth, WI is assisting the family with the arrangements.
