Hazel B. Stinson

Hazel B Stinson, age 95, of Baldwin, died peacefully on June 17, 2013 at the Baldwin Care Center. 

Hazel Luella Bakke and her twin sister Marion were born July 20, 1917 the first children of Oscar and Inga (North) Bakke in the Pleasant Valley township of St Croix County, Wisconsin.  Hazel grew up on the family farm in Pleasant Valley­­­ with her siblings Marion, Howard, Doris, Corrine, Gordon, Walter, and Lyle.  She attended the Valley View School and graduated from the Baldwin High School in the class of 1936.

After graduating, she worked several years at Western Electric, International Harvester, and Montgomery Ward in St Paul Minnesota.  She married Odine Stinson October 7, 1950.  He passed away December 24, 1975.

She was a lifelong member of Rush River Lutheran Church.  She taught Sunday School, was a member of LCW and Circle.  She worked on mission quilts for many years. 

Hazel enjoyed trips to Norway and to the Holy Land.  Hazel also enjoyed reading, dancing, and being a caregiver to others.  She entered the Baldwin Care Center October 7, 2006.

Proceeding her in death were her parents, Oscar and Inga, her husband Odine, sisters Marion Olson and Doris Ramberg, brothers Howard, Gordon, Walter and Lyle Bakke, nieces Marsha Bishop and Diane Klein, sister-in-law Lillian Bakke, brothers-in-law Kenneth Olson, Alfred Ramberg and Douglas Wogan.

Survivors include sister Corrine Wogan, sisters in law Maxine Bakke and Helen Bakke, nephews Keith and David Olson, Kent Bakke, Wayne, Brian and Bruce Ramberg, Clifford Bakke, nieces Susan Smith, Judy Shafer, Lisa Rose, Kathleen Davis, and Jeannine Durner.   Also survived by several great nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services for Hazel will be held at 2 o’clock in the afternoon on Friday, June 21, 2013 at the Rush River Lutheran Church in River Falls, Wisconsin.  Burial will follow at the Rush River Lutheran Church Cemetery.  A visitation will be held for 1 hour prior to services at the church.
