Wilma Stadt (VanSomeren)

Wilma (VanSomeren) Stadt age 87 of Baldwin went to be with her Lord Sunday July 22, 2018 at the Baldwin Care Center. Wilma was born on February 5, 1931 in Baldwin, Wisconsin; the daughter of Garrit and Cora (VanDeVrede) TeGrootenhuis. She was raised in Baldwin where she attended the Baldwin Christian School. On May 18, 1949, she was united in marriage to Laurence VanSomeren.  They adopted three children; Barbara, Beverly, and Steven. She was a homemaker raising her children and also a school bus driver for 30 years in the Baldwin-Woodville School District.   Her husband, Laurence died on March 11, 1989.  Wilma has been a lifelong member of the Christian Reformed Church in Baldwin as God’s word has always been the center of her life.  She was involved in the church choir and the Ebenezer Society.  On April 8, 1995, she was married to John Stadt. The couple has made Baldwin their home ever since.  She was known by many in the community for being a talented seamstress and making beautiful wedding cakes. Later in her life, she enjoyed her time working at Hardee’s and MacDonald’s in Baldwin. She enjoyed playing softball for church and was on a bowling league.  One of her favorite past times was playing games with friends and family.

Wilma will forever remain in the hearts of her husband John; children Barbara (Bob) Meyer, Beverly (Rob) Engesether, Steve (Tammy) VanSomeren; grandchildren Holly Christopherson, Stacy (Scott) Lais, Elizabeth (Mark) Lukas, Robby Engesether; Michael VanSomeren, Rachael (Hunter) Kreidermacher; great grandchildren Keipher, MacKenzie, Abbygail, Dianna, Eddie, Charlie; her extended VanSomeren family; and the Stadt children and grandchildren in British Columbia, as well as many dear friends. She is preceded in death by her husband Laurence, and granddaughter, Emily Engesether.  

A Memorial Service for Wilma will be 4PM Tuesday July 31st at the Christian Reformed Church in Baldwin with meal to follow. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at church.  Private Interment will be in the Baldwin Cemetery. Memorials preferred to the discretion of the family. Funeral services entrusted to the O’Connell Family Funeral Home and Countryside Crematory of Baldwin.
