Mary Nasvik

Mary Margaret Nasvik, age 75, of Milltown and formerly of Hudson, passed away on Thursday evening, September 9, 2010 at the Christian Community Home. She was born the daughter of Ernest and Margaret (Withrow) Thiele on May 10, 1935 in International Falls, MN. She attended grade and high school there, and then attended Bemidji State College.

In 1951, Mary met Robert “Bob” Nasvik before a football game in Bemidji. The two would marry on September 3, 1955 in Wichita Falls, TX where Bob was stationed with the US Air Force. They moved back to the Midwest, and Mary taught for a short time at the Catholic school in Loretto, MN and then was an aide in the English resource center in Hudson, WI. Mary became a realtor and worked at that profession for 24 years in the Hudson area. She and Bob were founders of Operation HELP, which Mary then worked with for 17 years.

She enjoyed her church work, playing cards, and reading.  She cherished time at their cabin in Canada and especially being with her grandchildren.

Mary is survived by her husband of 55 years, Bob; five children: daughter, Cheryl (Dan) Sikorski of Roberts WI; four sons: Robert (Lynn) of South St. Paul MN, Anthony (Nancy) of River Falls WI, Craig (Julie) of Vadnais Heights MN, and James (Mary) of Savage MN; 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild; sister, Marcia (Paul) Turenne of International Falls MN; brother, Dr. Michael (Kathy) Thiele of Warroad MN; and extended family.
