Kevin Kempf

Kevin Harold Kempf age 65 of Hammond, formerly of Roberts died Saturday December 11, 2010 at the Hudson Hospital. Kevin was born on June 16, 1945 in Stillwater, Minnesota; the son of Harold and Nora (Sullwold) Kempf. He was raised in Lake Elmo, MN where he attended elementary school. He also attended Stillwater High School before the Kempf’s moved to the Hammond area. As a young man, he enlisted in the armed forces where he served in the United States Air Force and was stationed in Vietnam, Thailand, and the Philippines. Upon his return, he would meet the former Margaret “Lee” Johnson. Together, they were united in marriage on August 16, 1969 at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in New Richmond. This union would be blessed with children Kyle, Kerry, and Trevor. Kevin worked many years for Convention Exhibit Services in the Twin Cities. They help build and design displays which promoted 3M products.

Kevin loved the outdoors. He looked forward to late fall and heading up north deer hunting with the guys near Cushing and Grantsburg. He enjoyed putzing around in the shop woodworking and making projects. When able, he also enjoyed getting out in his vegetable garden looking forward to the day of picking! Kevin could also spend hours around the cribbage board with family and friends.

Kevin will be remembered by his wife Lee; children Kyle Kempf, Kerry (Darin) Schlueter, Trevor (Angie) Kempf, grandchildren Christian, Aleah, MyaLynn, Aidan; siblings Arthur (Marilyn) Kempf, Darlene VanBeek and Kay (Gene) Alm. He is preceded in death by his parents Harold and Nora (Sullwold) Kempf, and brother Kenneth Kempf.

Funeral service for Kevin Kempf will be 11AM Thursday December 16th at Cross Lutheran Church in Roberts. Interment will be private. Visitation for Kevin will be on Wednesday from 4 until 8PM at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home of Baldwin. Memorials are preferred.
