Larry D. Brown

Larry Dean Brown, age 71, of Franklin Wisconsin, formerly Roberts, Wisconsin passed away on April 14, 2011 at Eastside Health and Rehab Center of complications of Parkinson’s disease.

Larry was born on September 8, 1939 in Eau Claire Wisconsin, the son of Clarence and Arlene (Kelly) Brown.  He grew up in rural Roberts and graduated from Roberts High School in 1958.  Larry attended Lacrosse Technical College. Following that he served in the United States Army from 1962-1964.  Upon completion of his tour of duty he moved to Milwaukee.  Larry was a thirty two year employee of SEARS, retiring in 1999. During his career with Sears he managed various departments.  He was awarded the Nation’s Top 100 Sales Associate for 1998 and retired from Sears Homelike Furniture in 1999.  Larry was involved as a Junior Achievement Advisor and United Way Division chairperson.  He was an avid antique collector, furniture refinisher and interior decorator.  Larry used the combination of these talents to decorate his own and other homes and later had booths at antique malls.  His talents for interior design were featured in Midwest Living Magazine and the Milwaukee Journal.  Christmas time always found his home completely re-decorated to celebrate the holiday and entertain many visitors.  He enjoyed a large circle of friends, entertaining guests at his home and traveling many places. Among his favorite destinations were Florida, Mexico, Door County, and Ireland.  His wonderful Irish sense of humor was much like that of his beloved grandfather, John Kelly.  He enjoyed belonging to a card club, gardening, and nice cars.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Arlene and Clarence, sister Marilyn (Brown) Blanco of Miami Florida, brother James Brown of Roberts and many aunts and uncles.

Larry will remain in the hearts of his sister Jeanne (Harvey) Radke of Racine, brother Ken (Kathleen) Brown of Elmwood, sister in law Joan Brown of Roberts, nine nieces and nephews, seventeen great nieces and nephews, and a very large circle of friends, many cousins, and aunt and uncle Vern and Lucille Kelly of River Falls, WI.

A memorial service for Larry will be held at 2 o’clock in the afternoon on Saturday, April 23rd 2011 at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home in Hudson.  A visitation will be held for 1 hour prior to the memorial service.  In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family to disperse to Larry’s favorite charities are suggested.  Services are in the care of the O’Connell Family Funeral Home – Hudson, WI   715.386.3725
