Mary Rose “Sis” Cameron

Mary Rose “Sis” Cameron (nee Jesse), age 86, of Hudson, died peacefully on Sunday, May 29, 2011 at the Christian Community Home. She was born the daughter of August and Irene (Dougherty) Jesse on May 2, 1925 in Stillwater, MN. Sis was a graduate of Stillwater High School. On September 27, 1947 she was united in marriage to Lyle James Cameron at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Stillwater. They were blessed with four children: Catherune Irene (who died six days after her birth in 1948), William, Colleen, and Michael.

Sis was proud of her work as an inspector at Twin Cities Aresenal during WWII, the Korean Conflict, and the Vietnam War. She was active with the VFW Women’s Auxiliary, and she enjoyed many years of singing with the St. Patrick’s church choir. Sis was a lifelong democrat who volunteered to register voters. She took pleasure in antiques, needlepoint, and “treasure hunting”. She will be greatly missed.

Sis is survived by three children: William (Helen) Cameron of Seattle WA, Rev. Colleen Cameron of Folsom CA, and Michael (Teresa) Cameron of North Hudson WI; five grandchildren: Natalie Cameron of St. Peters MO, Heather Cameron of Livermore CA, Joshua Cameron of North Hudson WI, Jennifer & Catherine Cameron of Seattle WA; six great-grandchildren: Lyle Cameron, Matthew & Emily Marler, Nathanial Chow, Aiden & Brody Cameron; sister, Kathleen Porter of Hudson WI; nieces, nephews, and extended family. She was preceded in death by her husband Lyle, infant daughter, and her parents.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Mary Rose “Sis” Cameron at 11:00 AM on Friday, June 3rd at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 1500 Vine St., Hudson. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Visitation one hour prior to the Mass at church and on Thursday, June 2nd from 5 until 7 PM, with a prayer service at 7:00, at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home of Hudson, 715-386-3725.  In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
