Gladys Fogerty

Gladys Jane Fogerty, age 76, of Hudson WI, passed away on Friday morning, August 12, 2011 at the Christian Community Home.  She was born the daughter of Ida (Rydeen) and Albin Anderson on January 18, 1935 in Sunrise, MN.

She married James Fogerty on May 23, 1953 at St. Bridget’s Catholic Church in River Falls. They were blessed with five children: Matthew, Karen, Sharon, Lyle, and Darlene.  They lived on the Fogerty family farm, south of Roberts, until Jim’s death in 1992.  For almost 40 years, Gladys helped on the farm. She took courses and became a Certified Nursing Assistant. She worked as a CNA at the Convalescent Home and then Christian Community Home and Pine Ridge in Hudson for 35 years. In 1994, two years after her husband’s death, Gladys moved to Hudson. In 2006 her health began to deteriorate and she moved into Pine Ridge, and then into CCH.

Gladys loved her work as a CNA, and in her free time she enjoyed knitting, reading, and doing puzzles. She was the host of many family gatherings; she loved time with her children and grandchildren. Gladys was a woman with much wisdom; her listening ear and gentle advice will be missed by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Fogerty; brothers, Edward & Donald Anderson; sisters-in-law, VeNila Fogerty & Delaine Anderson; brothers-in-law, Robert Vorwald & Roy Boucher. Gladys will remain in the hearts of her five children: Matthew Fogerty of River Falls WI, Karen Fogerty of River Falls WI, Sharon (Ken) Wolf of Eau Galle WI, Lyle (Bonnie) Fogerty of Great Falls MT, and Darlene (Jeff) Emerson of Somerset WI; eight grandchildren: Theresa (Mike) Rasmussen, Steven (Karin) & Laura Wolf, Jacquie & Andy Fogerty, and Jared, Brett & Monica Emerson; great-granddaughter Abigail Wolf; sisters, Eunice Vorwald & Mary Boucher, and brother, Curtis Anderson; brother-in-law, Darwin Fogerty; many nieces, nephews and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Gladys at 11:30 AM on Tuesday, August 16 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church 1500 Vine Street, Hudson. Burial will be at the St. Bridget’s Cemetery in River Falls.  Visitation will be at 10 AM prior to the Mass at church.  Fr. Gene Murphy will officiate. Memorials may be designated to the Christian Community Home or Adoray Hospice. Services have been entrusted to the O’Connell Family Funeral Home of Hudson, 715-386-3725.
