Dorothy Cords

Dorothy Mary Cords age 70 of New Richmond, formerly of South Milwaukee, died peacefully Monday November 21, 2011 at Comforts of Home in Hudson. Dorothy was born on June 16, 1941 in Hutchinson, Minnesota to Paul and Minnie (Witte) Radant. She was raised in Hutchinson and attended high school and college at Dr. Martin Luther College in New Ulm, MN where she received her degree in education. She touched many children’s lives during her years as a Lutheran elementary school teacher. She taught at Mt. Calvary in LaCrosse and St. John’s in Glencoe before accepting a call to Zion in South Milwaukee, where she met Harvey Cords. They were married at Grace Lutheran in Hutchinson in 1971 and were further blessed with three children.

She was a dedicated servant of the Lord who beautified worship by playing organ, singing in choir, serving on worship committee, and making countless banners. She was also a giving spirit, always finding books for schools, lending a hand or ear, and patching her grandchildren’s clothes. She loved music, sewing, and her flower garden. She enjoyed traveling many places with her husband and particularly treasured their trip to the Holy Land. She was a kind and patient mother and loving wife who cherished her family and adored her grandchildren. She was a special woman who touched the lives of many, and that will never end.

Dorothy leaves behind her husband Harvey, children Matthew Harold Cords of Sachse, TX, Timothy Paul Cords of New Richmond, Rebecca Marie (Maynard) Huth of Hudson, grandchildren Isaac, Oliver, Everett, and Greta Huth, as well as her sister Ruth Steuck (Ron) Weilage of Minnetonka, MN, and brother Walter (Sharon) Radant of Hutchinson. She is preceded in death by her parents.
