David M. Villafania

David M. Villafania, age 68, of Hudson WI, formerly of Kona, HI, passed away on September 16, 2012 at the University of Minnesota Medical Center in Minneapolis.

Dave was born on March 6, 1944 in Kona, HI to Christina Ann (Acol) Ganab and Ediberto Villafania. After attending grade school in Hawaii, and graduating from Waipahu High School, he achieved a trade degree and became a licensed carpenter. Through this, he became owner of DMV Construction in Kona.

On September 17, 1988, he married Debra Paulson in Beaver Lake Lutheran Church in Maplewood, MN, a marriage that would be blessed with three children: Nicholas, Robert, and Morgan. Following their marriage, he worked as a carpenter at 3M.

Dave loved spending time on the water, whether it be driving a boat, fishing with friends, scuba and skin diving in Hawaii, and spear fishing. But, most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Debbie of Hudson; sons, Jeffrey (Annie) Villafania of Kona, HI, Nicholas Villafania of Hudson, and Robert Villafania of Hudson; daughter, Morgan Villafania of Hudson; grandchildren, Kahunu and Kawena Villafania of Kona, HI; siblings, Janice (Richard) Halmas of Kona, Bessie (Romeo) Ramos of Pearl City, HI, and Bernard Ganab of Anoka, MN; mother-in-law, Donna Paulson of Maplewood, MN; along with many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and extended family.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Ann Ganab; his father, Ediberto; brother, Michael Ganab; and father-in-law, Donald Paulson.

A Celebration of Dave’s Life will be held at 7p.m. on Wednesday, September 19, 2012 at Trinity Family Center Church, 614 Badlands Rd., Hudson, with a gathering of friends and family at the church from 4-7 p.m.
